Waskesiu Golf Course:

Waskesiu Golf Course is one of Canada’s best places to play golf. The famous Canadian architect Stanley Thompson built the course in 1935. It is a member of the Stanley Thompson Society.

This is one of Western Canada’s oldest places to play golf. The “old course” in Waskesiu is still here and still looks a lot like it did when it was first built. It has 18 holes, and golfers of any skill level can play there.

Access is surprisingly easy for a golf course with such a long history. If you want, you can just pay and play, and the pro shop sells unique mementos. Golfers from the area and people who are just visiting can join. A membership to the second could be a great gift for a golfer.

The well-known Lobstick tree is just over 100 yards from the first tee. The Lobstick tree was a symbol of the history and tradition of the Waskesiu Golf Course. It was thought to be one of the most famous trees in western Canada, and our world-famous match-play event is named after it. The Lobstick Tournaments at Waskesiu are some of the biggest match-play events in North America. Each year, more than 800 golfers from all over the continent come to one of the Juniors, Men’s, Women’s, or Senior Men’s Lobstick Tournaments. In the Open Division of the men’s tournament, the best amateurs and PGA of Canada pros from Saskatchewan and elsewhere always show up. The tournament has been held every summer in Saskatchewan for more than 80 years. It was named after the famous Lobstick tree, which is in the middle of the fairway off the first tee. The word “lobstick” in Cree means an evergreen tree whose branches have been cut off halfway to mark a trail.

The Lobstick Tournaments are open to people of all skill levels and give them a chance to compete in a friendly way. In all tournaments, there are qualifying rounds to figure out fair flighting for the match play and stroke play parts of the events.

Whether this is your first Lobstick or you’ve been going for a long time, we’re sure you’ll enjoy the beautiful scenery in Waskesiu and the great people you’ll meet.
