Since its initial launch in 1992, this beloved series has had legions of dedicated fans dreaming of getting behind the wheel. If you’re new to the world of MarioKart, now is the perfect time to pull up a seat and experience one of gaming’s greatest hits. High speeds, unforgettable characters and real-world power-ups that change how you play to make this an adrenaline-filled race you won’t want to miss! So grab a controller and let’s go for a wild ride through three incredible platforms!

Nostalgia and alcohol combined = Beerio Kart

You grab the cartridge and give it a few good blows slam it down into the system press the power button on the N64 and wait for you and the crew are about to get into a race!

The addictive video game series was and always will be a favourite. fast forward a few years and you may have forgotten just how fun it was and now your weekends involve a few more beers. Why have these two enjoyable activities live separately… surely the two can coexist! In comes Beerio Kart.

Beerio Kart Rules

You may have a pretty good idea by the name of what this game entails but let’s get a comprehensive set of rules down on paper so everybody playing is on the same page.

Finish your beer during the round or race of Mario kart while simultaneously driving your character kart through the track… sound simple right?

Rule 1: No opening your beer until the race starts

This ensures everyone has a full beer and that everyone has the same time frame for finishing their beer.

Rule 2: No drinking and driving

You are not permitted to let that drink touch your lips wild driving. If you want to have a drink you must completely stop to start chugging that ice-cold crispeeboy. Once you have had enough of your beverage put the beer down and resume driving again!

Rule 3: Beers empty by end of the race

If you want to be the champion of Beerio Kart you must finish your beer prior to crossing that checkered flag at the end of the final lap. If it is found you have a little malty beverage left in that can of yours the winner will be the person who got second granted their beverage is empty.

What do you need to play Beerio Kart:

Console: Nintendo console such as Wii, GameCube, or Nintendo switch or see if your parents still have your old N64, any of these will work and then you need to make sure you have the game either downloaded or the physical disc. 

Controllers: At least 2 controllers but if you have 4 then more people can play at once. 

TV: The bigger the better, but you can play on any size you want.

Variations of Beerio Kart

As with any drinking game, people change the rules to suit their needs and sometimes make the game even more fun with these rule changes. here are some of our favourite variations we have heard of.

The Shotgun start:

This variation of Beerio Kart will require you to drink your beer a little faster. The race starts but before you may pick up your controller you must crack open your beer and finish it shotgun style. once your beer is finished you may then pick up your controller and race!

No Drinking on the first lap:

For most the common strategy is to down that beer on the first lap and focus on driving the rest of the time. This closes the book on that strategy. This rule means you must first complete lap 1 before having any of your beverage.

Beerio Kart Cup

If you have played Mario kart before then surely you are a fan of playing all four races or the Grand Prix. This is where your skills are tested over the course of 4 very different tracks. Playing this style takes a little longer but is sure to keep you engaged.

Since you are going to be required to race in four different races you may want to have some different options for beers.

Within this variation there are a few different ways to play our favourites are:

• 1 beer for the entire grand Prix: best for when playing with grandma or somebody who doesn’t drink very much. In order to win this way you must finish your beer by the end of the 4th race. You may also enjoy this rule if you are enjoying stronger craft beers.
• 2 beers for 4 races: Maybe you are playing with the cousins and still have to walk to family supper after this. To win with this rule variation you must finish your first beer by end of race 2. Then you must finish your second beer by end of race 4.
• 4 beers 4 races: This set of rules is good if you have nothing else going on that day other than racing and beers. Every race of the 4 race Grand Prix will require a new beer. to win this race variation you will need to have 4 empty beers by the end.
