Beersbee… we are talking beer, frisbee and the great outdoors. a combination sure to ensure a great time.

You may have heard about the game called polish horseshoes or fricket. No matter what you call it the objective is the same. Throw that frisbee across the playing read and knock your opponent’s bottle from the beersbee stand.

This is a team game that will require some skill and hand-eye coordination but won’t require you to move too much.

The game is played in teams of two but moves pretty fast so if there are more than 4 of you it is easy to have other teams play the winners.

What do you need to play beersbee:

If you feel inclined to make your own it is quite simple. all you need is a pole of sorts that will stand on its own and hold a beer bottle. then all you need is two empty beer bottles and a frisbee. We have made our own using a 2 x 4 cut so the bottom is a spike easy to get into the ground and a hockey puck screwed to the top as a base for the beer bottle. We have also witnessed people with poles welded in the same fashion.

If a home DIY project isn’t high on your list of priorities Amazon has some great options.

How to play Beersbee

beersbee rules are simple winning is not. Find a spot with enough room to play. We like parks or campsites we all have a friend who couldn’t hit a barn so you don’t want his throws going through car windows or house windows. A backyard too small and you’ll get to know your neighbours really well walking into their yard to retrieve your lost frisbee.

Get in teams of two and stand roughly 20 feet apart or as far as your skills or space allows. The targets are the poles with a bottle. You get points by knocking your competitors can to the ground. If your team drops the frisbee the entire team drinks. The game goes to 11 and generally, teams switch sides after 6 points. The game is played with a drink in your hand at all times so you will ultimately be playing one-handed.

How to score points in Beersbee Drinking Game

Gentleman rules are important in beerbsee as the scoring system is based on catchable throws. The throwing team must show reasonable intent to hit the pole or the other team will not be penalized as the frisbee will be deemed uncatchable.

Generally, the frisbee must be no lower than knee hight and you shouldn’t need to jump for the frisbee. a reasonable distance on either side of the pole can also be pre-determined.

The throwing team:

The goal of the game beersbee

Is to knock the bottle off the competition’s pole. you can do this one of two ways. hitting the pole and the bottle falls off, or a direct hit having the frisbee directly hit the bottle right off the pole.

  • 1 point- Frisbee hits the pole resulting in the bottle falling to the ground
  • 2 points- A direct hit frisbee bottle connection knocking the frisbee to the ground

Defending team:

The defending team will try and catch the frisbee and the bottle before they fall to the ground. You cannot come between the pole and the other team but rather try and catch the frisbee after it has passed by the pole.

  • 2-point reduction- catching the frisbee and the bottle before they can hit the ground
  • 1 point penalty- Not catching the frisbee results in a penalty of 1 point
  1. Direct Hit (No Catch). The throwing Team hits the target directly (2 Points) & Defense Team does not catch the bottle or Frisbee. This would be 3 Points for the throwing Team.
  2. Direct Hit (Frisbee and/or Bottle Caught). The throwing team hits the target direct hit (2 points) but defending team catches both Frisbee and bottle (1 Point Total). Defending Team only catches 1 item (either frisbee or bottle) will be (2 Points Total)
  3. Hitting Pole (No Catch). The throwing team knocks off the bottle but hits the pole (1 point).
  4. Hitting Pole (Frisbee and/or Bottle Caught). Catching the frisbee does not reduce 1 point by preventing it from giving to the scoring team. The throwing team knocks over the bottle by hitting the pole but catches the frisbee (1 point). If Defending team catches both bottle and frisbee (0 points).
